DESCRIPTION: A hilt of dark bone, with large truncated ears. The joining band of the handle is brass, undecorated. The blade is of steel, singled-edged, curved. On one side of the blade, gold damascened Arabic inscription, and on the other gold damascened plant and linear ornamentation. In translation the inscription goes: '1193. (AH). Made by Ahmed, owner Husein-Basha' . Scabbard wooden, covered in waxed cloth and plaited round with thin brass wire on the mouth and most of the way to the top. Purchased from the firm 'Sljeme' in 1957.
