DESCRIPTION: A hilt of yellow bone, with semi-circular smooth ears and carved folds on the bone plates. The joining band and continuation of the hilt, which extends to part of the blade, are decorated with tendril ornamentation. The blade is steel, single-edged, curved, with a narrow fuller along the ridge. On the upper end of the ridge, tendril ornamentation and the year '1214. (AH)'. On one side of the blade tendril ornamentation and six-petalled flower in a circle, and on the other side a punched stamp and an Arabic inscription in a frame, flanked by an ornament, half-moon and crescent. In translation the inscription goes: 'Made by a slave, owner Mehmed'. In the stamp the inscription is translated: 'Made by a slave'. Wooden scabbard, leather-covered, mounted in metal at mouth and tip. One bone ear wanting. From the collection of Dr Josip Fon in Zagreb.
