DESCRIPTION: Hilt of dark bone with rather large, truncated ears. Metal band, decorated with plant ornamentation. Continuation of hilt with three rows of fish scales. Leaf-shaped decoration of the blade decorated with plant ornamentation. The blade is of steel, one-edged, curved, with a narrow fuller alongside the ridge. On one side of the blade is a silver-damascened plant and linear ornament, and on the other side an Arabic inscription that in translation runs: '1214. (AH). Made by Murat, owner Mustafa-Basha. / The knife (sword) should be in the hand, the name of the Glorious on the tongue.' Wooden scabbard, leather-covered, mounted in metal towards the tip. Bone hilt, leaf-shaped decoration on the blade, leather covering and tip of the scabbard damaged in places. Found in Bosnia. Purchased from Eva Vitos from Mirkovci, 1897.
