DESCRIPTION: Hilt of dark bone, with smallish ears. Band and continuation of the hilt of metal, no decoration. The blade is of steel, single-edged, curved, with narrow fuller along the ridge. Along the whole length of the blade, an Arabic inscription, which in translation runs: 'Amasya, 1216. (AH). Made by Husein, owner and possessor Salih-Basha. / There is no youth like Ali, no sabre like Zulfiqar. / The knife (sword) should be in the hand, the name of the Glorious on the tongue '. Wants scabbard. The continuation of the hilt is missing on one side. The youth Ali was the son-in-law and successor of Prophet Mohammed, and Zulfiqar was a sabre owned first by the Prophet and then by Ali.
