DESCRIPTION: Hilt of dark bone, with truncated ears. Band of metal, decorated with plant ornaments. On the continuation of the hilt a fish scale decoration, met with on part of the ridge too. Leaf-shaped decoration of the blade with Baroque ornaments. The blade is of steel, single-edged, curved, with narrow fuller along the ridge. On one side of the blade silver damascened plant and linear ornaments, and on the other side an Arabic inscription that in translation runs: '1223. (AH) Made by Ibrahim, owner Ali Aga. / I rely upon my Creator, his slave'. Scabbard wooden, covered in leather, mounted in metal at the mouth and tip. On the mouth of the scabbard over the metal mounting a strap bound with a long leather knot. Band of the hilt patched in places. Found in Bosnia. From the Dr Josip Fon Collection, Zagreb.
