    DESCRIPTION:
    Hilt of dark bone. Band of metal decorated with baroque ornaments. On the continuation of the hilt, a fish scale decoration. Leaf-shaped part of the blade with baroque decoration. The blade is of steel, single-edged, curved, with a narrow fuller along the ridge. On the blade on one side an Arabic inscription, that in translation runs: '1238 (AH). Owner Mehmed'. Wooden scabbard, leather covered, brass mounted at mouth and tip. Mounting decorated with baroque vine scroll ornaments.
    Found in Bosnia.
    Purchased from Josip Medunic in Zagreb in 1876.
