Ottoman Empire : Balkans. steel, bone, brass; forging, carving, filigree work yatagan: 760 : 620 : 30 mm Inv. No.: HPM/PMH-013071 DESCRIPTION: A hilt of dark bone, with joined truncated ears. Band of the hilt of brass, with impressed plant ornaments. On the continuation of the hilt a beaded pattern, and on the leaf-shaped part impressed plant ornamentation. The blade is of steel, single-edged, curved, with a single narrow fuller along the ridge. On one side of the blade silver damascened stylised star or solar circle, and on the other side an illegible Arabic inscription. Wants scabbard. Purchased from Milan Praunsperger in Zagreb, 1940.
