DESCRIPTION:
Hilt clad in silver, with large faceted ears. On the ears, filigree work with two corals on each side. On the joining band, decoration of filigree work and eleven corals. On the continuation of the hilt, decoration of beads, and on the leaf-shaped part of the blade a decoration of filigree work with one coral bead on each side.
The blade is of steel, silver-edged, curved, with narrow fuller along the ridge. On the whole length of the blade on one side there is plant and linear ornamentation and on the other side an Arabic inscription, that in translation runs: 'The year 1218. (AH). Made by Hadji Nuh, owner Ibrahim Aga. / Oh heart, for the sake of one soul, do not offend every soul. / To enjoy this world, do not offend the sultan'. Sheath wooden, mounted the whole length in silver, ending with a fish head. On the mouth of the scabbard, rich filigree decoration, and on the rest, baroque ornamentation.
Purchased from Milan Praunsperger in Zagreb, 1940.
